Early Retirement ‘Pays Off’ For These Six-Figure Earners
The path to healing others was one that Dr. Terry and his wife, Susan, have always been passionate about.
The couple worked together in Dr. Terry’s health clinic based in Ontario where he served as a chiropractor. Susan practiced orthotics while also working part time at her husband’s clinic.
Clearly the couple was driven by providing others with wellness, but something was missing. Decades into working at the clinic and at her practice, Susan admits she was tired of looking at people’s feet.
“We were living quite comfortably, but I personally felt stressed and somewhat unhappy with my prospects for the future once I retired,” admits Dr. Terry.
As “overeducated” professionals, they couldn’t visualize prospects for career transitions that fit their passion for health.
Cruising to Wellness
Dr. Terry and Susan had been approached about Isagenix for the chiropractic clinic many times, but always wrote it off. They had attempted direct selling before, but were never serious about it.
“Looking back, I wish I hadn’t been so stubborn when first approached with the opportunity,” recalls Dr. Terry. “It was the fear, frustration, self-doubt and negative thoughts that got the best of me, and that never pays off.”
In 2004, while on a cruise with friends, Dr. Terry and Susan found their pals beaming about the health and wealth opportunities they had found with Isagenix.
“At the time, I weighed 325 pounds. The last thing I wanted was to approach my patients with a weight-loss product,” shares Dr. Terry. “It was only after talking with our friends that we decided to try it out. I only agreed after Susan said she would support me and complete the program with me.”
Dr. Terry ended up releasing 100 pounds.* Susan was previously at a weight plateau but, with the help of Isagenix, was finally able to lose the weight she desired.
“While taking Isagenix, the weight seemed to melt off,” says Susan. “It didn’t just change the scale, but shaped my body as well. It was wonderful.”
Looking back, the idea of stressing about their careers makes Dr. Terry and Susan smile. Five years ago, they were able to sell their practice, take an early retirement and are now traveling the world.
“We eat, breathe, and live Isagenix,” says Susan, who earns between $168,000 and $278,000** per year with her husband. “Isagenix will always be a part of our lives. We love the products, the company, the culture and the Isagenix family.”
Tips for Success
Growing their business over the course of nine years, this 4-Star Golden Circle couple recommends a few tips for those looking to build a business.
“First, be organized,” recommends Susan. “I can’t tell you the hundreds of people I didn’t enroll because of not following up. I always advise my team to slow down in order to speed up and spend time properly with the people they bring in.”
Dr. Terry agrees: “Following up is absolutely critical. Remember that if you don’t, someone else will. You would have seeded the garden—so to speak—and now someone else will reap the harvest.”
Like every business, there are always up’s and down’s to a new venture. The couple encourages others not to get discouraged easily.
“Don’t be afraid to solicit the advice of anyone in the company whom you feel has achieved the level of success you desire,” says Dr. Terry. “Attend as many of the functions that you can locally as well as corporate ones. And, like any career, read anything that can benefit you in the area of personal development. It pays to be a continuous student of the profession.”
Dr. Terry and Susan are elated they’re still able to maintain their passion for health, while growing their business and future—without the stress.
“Our health and our lifestyle are a consequence of saying yes to Isagenix,” says Dr. Terry.

*Weight loss should not be considered typical. In a study performed in 2012 by University of Illinois at Chicago researchers, subjects lost an average of 9 pounds with an average of 2 pounds of the loss from visceral fat after 30 days on an Isagenix system. The subjects also had a greater level of adherence and had more consistent weight loss from week to week compared to subjects on a traditional diet.
